Visitor praying for Highland
Editor, The Recorder,
I recently visited your county for the first time this year for the Maple Festival and I havent forgotten it. The beauty awed me at every turn. The people that I had opportunity to meet were kind and welcoming and loved their community. The festival was great.
But my mind keeps going back to the beauty. I can honestly say that I fell in love with Highland County. I truly felt that I had stepped into a piece of heaven. And with the way the mountains rolled around and wrapped me up, I felt like I had danced in the hem of the cloak of our creators robe.
But now I am reminded that the devil even slithered into the Garden of Eden a place of beauty and perfection. And so it has happened with Highland County. Greed, selfishness, and pride have come together to mess up once again the beauty of Gods creation.
I am coming back to Monterey for the county fair and I will take in all I can of its purity while it still has some. But at this time, I would like to encourage all of the good God-fearing people to pray harder than ever before, and longer than ever before, that the turbines will not come to be.
Dont give up, and hold on firm to your beliefs and convictions. You truly have something to fight for.
As for now, Ill be coming back. But should the turbines begin to show, I just cant imagine watching the sunrise through the props of a wind machine. I will be praying for your corner of heaven to remain untouched and unspoiled.
