Field Trip to Hot Springs Fire Department
     What could be more exciting than a trip to the Hot Springs fire department? Valley Elementary School students, from preschool to first grade, enjoyed a morning at the fire house recently watching various demonstrations from spraying water hoses and ladder climbing, to learning how to stop, drop, and roll. These students watch with exhilaration and worry as a fireman climbs the tall ladder above them.      On Friday, Oct. 19, Millboro Elementary School collected money for Heavenly Hats. The Heavenly Hats Foundation was started by teen Anthony Leanna when he was 10 years old to send hats to heroes of all ages who lose their hair due to cancer or other medical conditions. Since 2001, the foundation has sent more than 200,000 hats to hospitals and clinics all over the U.S. Students and staff who donate $1 could wear a hat during school hours. Highland student attends U.Va.'s band day
      James Folks participated Nov. 3 at the University of Virginia's "Band Day" in Scott Stadium during the halftime in the game against Wake Forest. "It was an opportunity for me to play with a college marching band and have an over all great musical experience," Folks said.
