Ryder returns as Bath planner

HOT SPRINGS - Former Bath County planner Sherry Ryder has been hired by supervisors to assume that role again next month.

Ryder served as Bath's planner from 2003-05, and has most recently been working in the office of Bath attorney Peter Judah.

"She said she really missed the work with the county," said county administrator Bonnie Johnson this week. "She was delighted it camp open and that should re-apply."

Ryder replaces planner Miranda Redinger who leaves the job to move out of the area with her husband.

Ryder will assume the role effective July 2. She holds certificating from the Virginia Association for Zoning Officials as both a zoning official and a zoning administrator. Most recently, she has served as a legal assistant.

During her previous stint as planner, she worked with Bath's planning commission, board of zoning appeals, and board of supervisors to revise land use regulations. Just this week, county supervisors already began involving her in discussions about the revised comprehensive plan at their meeting Tuesday.

She will take on that task again with the completion of the county's new comprehensive plan, working with county officials to revise regulations to fit new goals.

Ryder is a lifelong Bath County resident. "I look forward to returning to the position of county planner, and being involved in the future planning decisions for the county," she said. "I do care about its future."
