 | | A special exhibit has opened at the Virginia Quilt Museum, Harrisonburg, featuring more than 50 pieces, including clothing, blankets, quilts, cloth and other bedcovers, along with a selection of related accoutrements. How did early settlers make their own cloth? Learn about real homespun and the difference between "homespun" and "home woven." Most of the pieces on display have never before been exhibited, including a Shenandoah Valley 1806 pieced quilt and a wool whole cloth quilt from New England. Lenders to the exhibit include Ferrum College's Blue Ridge Institute, Roddy and Sally Moore, Jeff and Beverley Evans, Greg Bott, and Kent Botkin. The exhibit is open through Oct. 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 1-4 p.m. Sundays. The museum is located at 301 South Main Street, Harrisonburg.
