FSA acreage reporting deadlines approaching

LEXINGTON - The Rockbridge/Alleghany/Bath County Farm Service Agency reminds producers that acreage reports are now being accepted. The final reporting dates are as follows:

Monday, July 2 - all other crops except small grains, tobacco, grain sorghum, hay, pasture, and soybeans.

Monday, July 16 - tobacco, grain sorghum, soybeans, hay, pasture, and CREP/CRP acreage.

May 31 was the deadline for reporting fall and spring-seeded small grains, however, late-filed reports can be filed for a fee.

A complete acreage report must be filed each year in order to retain eligibility for direct and counter-cyclical program payments, loan deficiency payments and/or commodity loans. All cropland on a farm must be reported. Crop planting dates must be provided when certifying crop acreage. Producers are reminded crop acreages and crop shares reported to FSA and RMA (crop insurance) must be the same.

Producers may call the FSA office at (540) 463-7124, ext. 2, if they have any questions or would like to set up an appointment. Appointments are strongly encouraged for acreage reporting.
