Members of the Woodrow Wilson Ruritan District Cabinet attended the 2007 Ruritan National Summer Leadership Conference in Dublin June 20-22 to learn about new programs designed to improve communities. The conference was sponsored by the Ruritan National Home Office in Newbern as part of the organization's training program for volunteer leaders. Attendees from the Woodrow Wilson district were (l -r): Albert Richardson, member of the Sherando -Lyndhurst Club and the Woodrow Wilson district zone V governor; Tammy Hicklin, member of the Bolar Club and Woodrow Wilson district lieutenant governor; Betty Jo Clemmer, member of the Middlebrook Club and Woodrow Wilson governor; Frankie Hicklin, member of the Bolar Club and the Woodrow Wilson district zone IV governor; Hilda Hensley, member of the Pleasant-View Springhill Club and Woodrow Wilson zone I governor; and Dennis Clemmer, member of the Middlebrook Club and Woodrow Wilson District growth and development coordinator. Attendees included Ruritan officers from districts across 24 states, and a host of volunteer leaders and Ruritan staff members. They discussed issues and activities that affect Ruritan clubs. Some of the topics included growth and development, leadership training, and legal issues. The Ruritan Home Office, the headquarters of Ruritan, has been located in Newbern since 1965.
