Highland native releases new book

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Highland County native Ray Bussard has released a book, "Spizzerinctum, the Ray Bussard Story," about his life. It chronicles his childhood in Highland County, his college days at Bridgewater, his athletic and coaching careers.

Bussard coached high school in Virginia and Tennessee and later became the swimming coach at the University of Tennessee. He also coached the U.S. swim team in the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games.

Bussard and his wife, Ruth, are retired and living in Knoxville.

The book was written by Marvin West, former sports editor of the Knoxville News-Sentinel.
