Library notes By Nancy Smith, Bath County Public Library
We want to thank each and every one of you who came out to our annual open house for National Library Week. We were pleased with the number of people who came to see their library and learn of the many items that can be obtained and operations that can be done at the library.
The products and opportunities available especially impressed me for the youth. Our children's area has many fine and interesting items that can be used at the library or checked out to be taken home.
We have several new books on CD, which appear to be a popular item at the library. People often check out books on CD to listen to while driving to and from work or on a trip.
The books on CD are: "Drop Shot," Harlan Coben; "Vicious Circle," Robert Littell; "The Alexandra Link," Steve Berry; "High Profile," Robert B. Parker; "Secret Lovers," Charles McCarry; "Nature Girl," Carl Hiaasen; "Next," Michael Crichton; "Limitations," Scott Turow; "Family Honor," Robert B. Parker; "Hollywood Station," Joseph Wambaugh; "Last White Knight," Tami Hoag; "Act of Treason," Vince Flynn; "The Collectors," David Baldacci; "Echo Park," Michael Connelly; "Motor Mouth," Janet Evanovich; "Short Straw," Stuart Woods; "Under Orders," Dick Francis; "Cross," James Peterson; "For one more day," Mitch Abom; "Shape Shifter," Tony Hillerman; "Skeleton Coast," Clive Cussler & Jack B. OuBrul; "Treasure of Khan," Clive Cussler and Dirk Cussler; "The Echelon Vendetta," David Stone; "The Last King of Scotland," Giles Foden; "Dust," Martha Grimes; "The Last Templar," Raymond Khoury; "When Darkness Falls," James Grippando; and "Skylight Confessions," Alice Hoffinan.
The new DVD's are: "National Geographic: The New World Nightmare in Jamestown"; PBS Home Video: "Catherine the Great"; "Brother Minister: The Assassination of Malcolm X"; "Coming into America"; "Hot Times in Alaska/Hot Planet-Cold Comfort"; "Destination America"; "The Waltons," the complete second season; "Unbreakable," "Signs," and "The Village," M. Night Shyamaian; and "An Inconvenient Truth," Al Gore.
We would like to remind our patrons that free Internet access is available in the library. If you have email-dependent guests who need to touch base with home or office while visiting, the library is the place to get connected. By checking in at the circulation desk and giving them some information, which will be kept on file at the library, they can check in at any time and use the high-speed connection.
The summer reading program is in full swing. Sharon Lindsay, librarian, is coordinating events.
Remember, too, that we have a perpetual sale at the library in the center room between the library and the front meeting room. These books can be bought at any time and paid for at the front desk.
