Kari Lynne

Botkin

FERRUM - Kari Lynne Botkin of McDowell, a sophomore at Ferrum College, has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2007 semester.

Full-time students who receive at least a 3.4 grade point average and above on the 4.0 scale during the academic semester qualify for the dean's list.

Beth Joannah

Gardner

FERRUM - Beth Joannah Gardner of Monterey recently earned a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice during Ferrum College's 91st commencement ceremony on May 5.

She was also named to the dean's list for spring of 2007.

Scott Neil

BLACKSBURG - Scott Neil of McDowell, a rising junior at Highland High School, has been chosen to participate in this year's Governor's School for Agriculture to be held at Virginia Tech on July 1-28.

One hundred rising junior and senior high school students from across the commonwealth have been selected to participate in this year's Governor's School for Agriculture.

The one-month summer residential program for gifted students interested in agriculture and natural resources was established in 2001.

Jenna

Williamson

MONTEREY - The Burger King/McLamore Foundation has announced that Jenna Williamson of Monterey has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

Williamson is a Highland High School Class of 2007 graduate.

She is the daughter of Sue Johnsen of Monterey.

Aubrilyn Reeder

MILLBORO - Aubrilyn Reeder has graduated from Harvard University's Graduate School of Education with a master of arts degree in education, concentrating in secondary mathematics. She is also a graduate of the University of Virginia, as well as the Thomas Jefferson School of Science and Technology in Fairfax County.

A former teacher with the Teach for America Program, Reeder taught in the Los Angeles Unified School District, with students speaking English as a second language.

After graduation, Reeder traveled to China and Europe, and is now vacationing with her mother and stepfather, Lt. Col. and Mrs. J. Lawrence Minetree III of Grace Hill Farm in Millboro.
