| MONTEREY - "We are blessed to have been brought up in this county," said Beatrice Clark, Millboro High School Class of 1957.
Millboro High School classes of 1916-1970 held their reunion July 7 at Millboro Elementary School. More than 250 alumni and guests attended.
Alumni remembered their alma mater as the "heartbeat of the community." They honored former teachers and staff and recognized veterans who were also graduates of MHS.
"We were all very close," said Eunice Taylor Tyree, class of 1936.
Leland Coursey, class of 1965 and 1969, said he was feeling great and happy to be at the reunion. Several years ago he had a severe heart attack. He claims two classes because he dropped out of the class of 1965 only to return four years later to complete his education.
He recalled, with a mischievous smile, a prank he pulled in 1967. "I put a frog in the pond at the prom," he said. It caused quite a stir among the ladies, he added.

| Hunter Hepler, class of 1937, was with the 83rd Chemical Battalion in the Army in World War II. He recalled when the troops went ashore at Anzio, Italy. "I was on a ship then went into Anzio," he said. "It got blown up."
Emily Hall Coleman, class of 1946, had her own story about servicemen. "I had a boyfriend in high school," she said. "He went into the service. I found out he was seeing another girl. That was the end of that relationship."
The classes of Millboro High School shared these and many other memories of the past. The school has held a reunion every two years for the past eight, and will probably have reunions for as long as anyone cares to come to share a few laughs, a few tears, and many memories of their high school days and of growing up in Bath County, the alumni said.
