Fred Scheer's Lumberjack shows set for Augusta fair
FISHERSVILLE -
Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. No it's not Superman - these "men of steel" are lumberjacks.
Captivating audiences for the past 25 years, Fred Scheer's Lumberjack Shows, sponsored by STIHL, provide images of man against the impossible along with the sport derived out of a nation's heritage.
The show includes such events as axe throwing, chopping, log rolling, cross cut sawing, hot sawing and chain saw carving. These century old skills were used in the logging camps of North America. To pass idle time, lumberjacks would challenge each other in head-to-head competition.
The shows will be held at the Augusta Expo during the Augusta County Fair, Aug. 7- 11.
