Computer classes offered
CLIFTON FORGE - Three information systems technology courses have been scheduled for the fall semester at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, according to Sam Benke, program head, information systems technology.
Basic computer literacy, a three-credit course, will use the new Microsoft Office 2007 suite. This course covers computer concepts and Internet skills and includes word pro- cessing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software to demonstrate skills required for computer literacy.
There are three sections scheduled on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Three sections are being offered at the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center in Lexington on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Introduction to network concepts will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays with Benke as instructor, and on Mondays at the RRC in Lexington with Tamra Cottrill as instructor. This three-credit course provides instruction in networking media, physical and logical topologies, networking standards and popular networking protocols.
Networking fundamentals: Cisco Academy provides an introduction to networking using the OSI reference model. This fourcredit course will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays and another section is offered on Thursdays Benke is the instructor for both.
