VDOT announces spray schedule

HIGHLAND - The Virginia Department of Transportation's Verona Residency Office has announced its schedule for the application of Krenite S for brush control in Highland County this year. The following routes will have Krenite S applied between Aug. 27 and Sept. 6:

• Route 622, from Route 623 to West Va. line.

• Route 623, from Route 622 dead end.

• Route 624, from Route to 2 miles west of Route 617.

• Route 617 W, from Route 654 to 0.5 miles west of Route 653.

• Route 653, from Route 617 to dead end.

• Route 678, from Route 250 to Bath Co line.

• Route 614, from Route 250 to Route 619.

• Route 620, from Route 614 to West Va line

• Route 250, from Route 616 to Monterey city limits

All of the locations listed may not be covered due to weather conditions and budget.

Krenite S is different from other brush control chemicals. Treated vegetation with Krenite S does not usually show any immediate affects; rather it does not produce foliage the following spring.

Krenite S will be applied at locations where adjacent property owners object to the use of this material. Property owners along the above locations who object may post the right of way for no spraying. Contact the Monterey Area Headquarters (540) 468- 2400 with any questions or for additional information.

Motorists are reminded to use extreme caution when traveling through work zones. For information on the location of work zones, call the Highway Helpline at (800) 367-ROAD.
