DMV expands online services for customers
RICHMOND - Renewing your identification card just got easier. Customers no longer have to visit a Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles customer service center; they can go to ww.dmvnow.com to renew I.D. cards.
DMV is committed to offering customers a variety of alternatives to visiting a customer service center. I.D. card renewal is one of approximately 25 transactions customers can conduct online.
An ID card is available for Virginia residents who do not hold a learner's permit or driver's license. The cost to renew an ID card is $10.
Other than adding a new online transaction, DMV's website recently got a new look. One of the most significant changes to the site is improved navigation, which enhances access to important information and services, such as DMV select locations, the online vehicle registration renewal service and list of documents needed when applying for a driver's license. Content boxes detailing those topics are displayed on the center of the home page.
A "How May We Help You" drop-down menu was modified for users to quickly find what they need. Another new drop-down menu on the right side of the website allows customers to view DMV's most popular publications such as the Virginia's Driver's Manual or a comprehensive explanation of DUI laws. The site's redesigned page for accessing forms and publications provides additional features to make it easier for customers to find and download the documents they need.
For those customers who return to DMV's website on a regular basis, they will be able to find items the same way they have in the past.
DMV's website is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. After securing a DMV pin number, most online transactions take less than five minutes.
