Grant workshop offered at library

LEXINGTON - As part of its mission to community, the Rockbridge Area Community Foundation will offer a free workshop on grant writing for not-forprofit organizations in Rockbridge and Bath counties.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 18 in the Lexington Branch of the Rockbridge Regional Library from 9 to 11 a.m. The presenter will be Alan Ronk, the executive director of the Foundation for the Roanoke Valley.

Ronk has been in the foundation for 18 years. Prior to that he was a development officer for Roanoke College. He serves on a number of professional state and regional philanthropy boards. The Foundation for Roanoke Valley made over $2 million in grants last year to not-for-profit organizations in the Roanoke area.

"We have many good causes here in the area, and there is a lot of money to be had from foundations and governmental agencies to support these causes. All to often not-for-profit organizations are unaware of how to apply for these funds or fail to submit the proper documentation in the required format," said Woody Sadler, chairman of the Rockbridge Area Community Foundation. "We hope this workshop will help the small notfor profits in our area in their ability to apply and receive grants."

Individuals from organizations interested in learning about grant writing and submissions are encouraged to attend. Reservations are not required; however, seating is limited. For additional information contact Sadler at (540) 463- 6379.
