Campground closes due to aggressive bear
WARM SPRINGS - Blowing Springs Campground on Route 39 has been closed indefinitly due to an aggressive bear. The bear is roaming the campground in search of food and has threatened campers. Do not camp or enter this area.
In recent days, bears throughout the Highlands have been searching for food closer to populated areas. This is because the berry crop is poor this year and there is very little food in the woods for bears.
Everyone should be cautious when camping at any location, even the most developed campground. Do not leave food or trash in your tent or campsite. Lock food, coolers and trash in your vehicle at night.
