Club sees film on bird's eye view
MONTEREY - The Monterey Garden Club met on Tuesday, Sept. 4, in the Mountain View Room at the Highland County Public Library.
The film "Winged Migration" was shown. Amazing cinematography and music fill this documentary and adventure created by French filmmakers Jacques Cluzaud, Michel Debat and Jacques Perrin.
Presented with almost no narration and filmed primarily from a bird's perspective, this study of the lives and habits of migrating birds recreates, as nearly as possible, the experiences of the birds themselves.
Hostesses for the meeting were Barbara Hevener and Mary Hille McCoy.
Members who won blue ribbons for Horticulture exhibits were Elizabeth McCoy, Mary Hille McCoy, Lisa Munchel and Barbara Richards. Mary Hille McCoy and Barbara Richards received blue ribbons for artistic arrangements.
The exhibit judges were Lisa Munchel and Elizabeth McCoy. The October meeting will be held at the library on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. Guest speaker will be Keith Carson of The Nature Conservancy.
Hostesses for the meeting will be the club officers and flower exhibit judges will be Shirley Weissenborn and Barbara Richards. Those interested in joining should attend a meeting or contact a club member.
