Millboro Happenings
By Gina Hamilton

¦ There is a cat missing in Millboro - Toby, a white and yellow male, with a marking on his nose. He belongs to Misty Lowry and disappeared Aug. 31, and is very much missed by his family. To help in the search for this beloved cat look for one that is playful and jumps at your feet wanting to play. If you see Toby, give Misty a call: 997-0229.

¦ There will be a hot time on a cool but sunny day this Saturday in Millboro for the Millbilly Bluegrass Festival. While the temperatures may hover around the mid- 60s, the expected 1,200 folks will listen to some sizzling bluegrass by today's brightest stars and those newcomers heading into the bright lights. The festival will feature headliner Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, along with national artists Michelle Nixon and Drive. Grabbing their place in the sun, look for these local bands, 220 South, Skyline Boys, Plain and Simple and Maury River Bluegrass Band. The festival is an all day event starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 11 p.m. You will find the picking and singing in Millboro's Industrial Park, off Route 39 and Route 42. This small festival features some big sounds in bluegrass, but charges a reasonable fee for adults and children between the ages of six and 12. The festival raises money for the Millboro fire department.

During the last two weeks in August, a group from Mill Creek and Craigsville traveled to South Africa for a twoweek hunting trip in Paaredeport. Brenda Wilhelm, Dave and Hank Bryant, and George and Jeanette Hildebrand purchased a hunting package for three hunters and two observers, with Brenda as one of the hunters. Led by guide and professional hunter, Dirk, they bagged 29 trophies, such as the Kudu above, which is a large African antelope with males having those long, spiraling curved horns. Even with seven-inch grasshoppers, the group found the country beautiful and the South African cuisine superb. They hope to return in a couple of years, as they only snagged 518 photos.
