Bloodmobile Visits Bath County The Bloodmobile visited Bath County at the Hot Springs Firehouse on Monday, Sept. 10. An amount of 55 pints was the expected and hoped for quota, but only 43 pints were received. Volunteers were disappointed by the low donations and turnout, but were pleased with four first-time donors. The Jackson River Chapter of the Red Cross said it appreciated all the donors and their support. Donor pins were presented to the following individuals: John Kershner Jr., 15 gallons; Walker May, nine gallons; Carol M. Phillips, three gallons. Walker May received an eight- pint pin from John Trimble. May, of Hot Springs, gave one pint Monday, with a lifetime total of nine gallons. One gallon of blood equals 72 pints, and as one pint will save three lives, May's blood has saved 648 lives. (Recorder photo by Cynthia Coleman)
