WILLIAM R. NICHOLS
BALL, LOUISANA - Florida National Guard Soldier 2nd Lt. William R. Nichols of the 631st Maintenance Company has graduated from Officer Candidate School.
Nichols entered the Florida National Guard in September 2005. He decided to enlist in the Louisiana Army National Guard Officer Candidate School program in 2006.
Nichols is a graduate of Chilhowie High School in Chilhowie, Va. He received his bachelor's degree in engineering from East Tennessee State University.
Nichols was supported by his wife, Robin, of Chilhowie and his children, Andrew and Alyssa Nichols of Hot Springs, Va.
He is employed with Georgia- Pacific Corp. as a senior reliability engineer.
After receiving the Army Physical Fitness award and pinning on his second lieutenant bar he said, "I am humble and thankful for my children now more than ever."
Each graduate of the Officer Candidate School program will now be recognized as commissioned U.S. Army second lieutenant.
