General ¦ James White Jr., Verona Residency Administrator: Report on County roads and projects, and fall Commonwealth Transportation Board public meeting. ¦ Sam Shell, Monterey Town Council, signs in regard to noise. ¦ Review a request from the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission for a nomination from Highland County for the annual planning commissioner of the year award. ¦ Appoint members for a three-year term on the Local Emergency Planning Committee ending Sept. 30, 2010. ¦ Review correspondence from the Department of Agriculture on the Virginia cooperative gypsy moth suppression program. ¦ Review a request to form a local sesquicentennial committee to plan events for the commemoration period of the American Civil War (2011-2015). ¦ Review correspondence from the City of Staunton requesting that Highland County adopt a resolution asking the Virginia General Assembly to cap interest rates at 36 percent APR on consumer loans such as payday lenders and auto title loans. ¦ Personal property tax relief: Adopt a resolution to establish the relief percentage on qualifying vehicles. ¦ Authorize holiday closings for county offices to correspond to action taken by the Governor of Virginia. The following dates have been declared as holidays for state offices: Thanksgiving: Wednesday, Nov. 22, close at noon (extra holiday), Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23-24 are statutory holidays. Christmas: Monday, Dec. 24, all day (extra holiday). Tuesday, Dec. 25 is the statutory holiday. New Year: Monday, Dec. 31, all day (extra holiday). Tuesday, Jan. 1, is the statutory holiday.
