Grants for non-profits available

LEXINGTON - The Rockbridge Area Community Foundation seeks grant proposals from local non-profits to assist them in their community service. The grants of up to $500 will be awarded at the foundation's upcoming board meeting in November. Grant applications and additional information are available at the foundation's Web site, www.rockbridgefoundation.org.

Proposals should be mailed to the foundation at RACF, P.O. Box 1435, Lexington, Va. 24450. The deadline for receipt of proposals is Monday, Oct. 22.

The Rockbridge Area Community Foundation with current assets of almost $600,000 was established in 2002 to serve as the community's local foundation. As such, it receives gifts from residents and others who have an interest in the future of the Rockbridge community, which includes Rockbridge and Bath counties. Annually, its endowed funds provide for distribution of grants to local non-profits to assist them in their service for the area. Individual donors may choose to create a donor-advised fund to support the community forever. Local non-profits may use the foundation to handle permanent endowments for their long-term benefit or gift annuities.

For more information on how the foundation might help more effectively fulfill philanthropic giving, or for questions about grant applications, call Woody Sadler at (540) 463-6379 or Buddy Bryan at (540) 464-7287.
