CRPA raises awareness on water
WARM SPRINGS - Around the world, thousands of volunteers join together for World Water Monitoring Day. Each year since 2002, school children, local citizens, university students and seniors have participated in the hands-on water testing of their local streams, rivers, lakes, ponds and other water resources during the four week period beginning Sept. 18 and ending Oct. 18. The results are then reported and become part of an international database of water quality throughout the world.
The Cowpasture River Preservation Association has joined the effort and will be contributing water monitoring data from the organization's ongoing water testing program.
For more information on the global program, visit www.worldwatermonitoring day.org
The mission of the CRPA is to preserve the natural condition and beauty of the Cowpasture River and its tributaries for present and future generations. Watershed education and river monitoring are the primary focus of the organization. Membership is open to all who share the CRPA mission. For more information see: www.cowpastureriver.org.
