Camp Accovac hosts family weekend
MILLBORO - Camp Accovac will host a family camp weekend Oct. 12, 13 and 14.

The speaker will be the Rev. Bill Millinor of Taylorsville, N.C. Millinor is the son-in-law of Janet DuBois whose husband served as pastor at The Lone Star Advent Christian Church on Nicelytown Road in Alleghany County and at the Victory Chapel Advent Christian Church in Highland County.

The Rev. Wendell DuBois was killed in an automobile accident in April. Mrs. DuBois and family will be accompanying Millinor.

The theme for the weekend will be "Get Rooted or Wilt." The weekend will begin with supper at 6 p.m. on Friday and the worship service will follow at 7:30 p.m. Special music will be provided by the "Blessed Hope" quartet of Central Advent Christian Church.

Saturday services are at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. There will be an "ole fashion gospel sing" with Edwin Crisp at the keyboard during service.

On Sunday, Bible studies for all ages will be at 10 a.m. and worship services at 11 a.m. The weekend camp will conclude after lunch.

Activities during the weekend include: hiking, canoeing, volleyball, basketball, pumpkin carving for the children and a campfire at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.

This weekend is open to everyone. Lodging is on a first call basis in the lodge building and cabins.

The weekend is funded by offerings.
