Bath vs. Parry McCluer

WARM SPRINGS - Carey Trimble rejoined the potent Charger offense after a one-game absence and had 11 kills to lead the Bath to a 25-19, 25-19, 25-19 hard fought victory over the Blues of Parry McCluer.

The fighting Blues came out fast and took an early lead in game one until Bath got fired up behind a loud and loyal home crowd and reeled off five straight points from the service of Shasta Riley to take a 10-8 lead.

The Blues fought back and the game was tied 15-15 until the Sara Philpott and the Chargers rolled off five more in a row to take a commanding 20-15 lead they never relinquished.

The second game was another tight contest, with more back and forth scoring. Charger Hillary Jessee threw down five kills and an ace and Trimble blasted six kills during the game; both teamed up for a big block in a five-point run to give Bath a two-game advantage.

Bath's Hillary Jessee sets a serve to the Charger frontline. Jessee had 10 kills in the victory over Parry McCluer.
The crowd got loud feeling a win, and the Chargers used the energy to hold off a desperate Blues rally and take the third game to sweep the match.

"I'm glad Carey's back," said Bath coach Dave McGee. "She's got a lot of heart."

McGee also praised the play of the team as a whole, especially setter Santana Strickler. "She's so good," he said. "The ball hit off the rafters and she still got her hands on it."

The JV Chargers cruised by the Blues in straight games as well, 25-20 and 25-17.

Chelsea Dudley, Jordan Fry, and Erin Arrington led Bath in service points in the first game. In the second game, Mary McCoy served for six straight points aided by a couple of kills from Amelia Walters to hold off the Blues and avenge an earlier loss to Parry McCluer in the Riverheads tournament.

Beth Gentry led the Chargers with five kills. "She's our big gun," said McGee.

"Ashley (Rice), our setter, had a great game," McGee added. He also pointed out the play of Amanda Shifflett saying, "She's got a lot of potential."

Bath at Craig

NEW CASTLE - The Chargers continued their winning ways Tuesday taking their high-flying net crew to Craig County and winning in four games, 19-25, 26-24, 25-15, and 25-19.

Craig gave the Chargers all they could handle and took the first game before Bath's frontline began to overpower the Rockets and win a tie-breaker in game two.

With momentum on its side, Bath continued the roll and took games three and four by comfortable margins.

Carey Trimble led Bath with 12 kills and four blocks while her partner in crime, Hillary Jessee had nine kills and four blocks. Jessica Philpott scored six service aces from the block for the Chargers.
