| BUENA VISTA - Having barely missed regional play as a team, the Bath County Chargers were hoping for stellar individual play from the four golfers who were invited. However, early bogeys from all four dashed any Charger hopes of an invitation to states and the season ended for Bath in Buena Vista Monday.
Travis Williams led the Chargers with a 14-over-par 86 and missed qualifying for states by a mere six strokes.
Bath's Drew Newmarker fought off a triple-bogey at the start and finished one stroke behind Williams with an 87.
Freshman Alex Fry experienced some bumps in his first taste of regional play, but shook off a 16-over-par 52 on the first nine and shot six over on the second nine to finish at 94.

Williams earned the honor of most valuable player for the Chargers on the season. Newmarker was chosen as most consistent, and Fry most improved.
"I thought we peaked at mid-season and seemed to lose momentum at the end," said Bath coach Terry Bradley. "But I really believe that we have the nucleus next season to be competitive in the district and make another team appearance in regional play."
