The weekend produced two wins for three former Bath County athletes playing college football in Virginia this fall.

In Williamsburg, Jake Phillips helped lead William & Mary to a 27-22 win over Towson in Colonial Athletic Association action.

The junior quarterback was 10-of-23 passing for 179 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for a team-high 42 yards on eight carries. For the season, Jake is 86-of-147 passing for 1,432 yards and 10 touchdowns while rushing 36 times for 59 yards, a 1.6-yard per carry average, and two scores.

Jake is second in two catergories in the CAA stats, passing average per game (286.4 yards) and total offense (298.2 yards) and fourth in passing efficiency (157.3). In the national statistics for all Football Championship Subdivision Teams, Jake is second in total passing yards (1,423 yards), eighth in passing yards per game (286.4 yards), ninth in total offense (298.2 yards),12th in passing efficiency (157.3) and 32nd in completed passes per game (17.2).

W&M, 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the CAA, travels to Villanova on Saturday for a 6 p.m. game.

In Charlottesville, John Phillips and the Virginia Cavaliers rolled past Pittsburgh 44-14 in a non-conference game.

For the second straight week, John had two receptions for 23 yards. Last week the junior tight end caught his first two passes of the year for 19 yards in a 28- 23 win over Georgia Tech. He has four catches for 42 yards for the year, averaging 10.5 yards per catch.

Virginia has won four straight to improve to 4-1 overall and travels to Middle Tennessee State Saturday for a 6 p.m. game.

Michael Colaw and the Bridgewater Eagles suffered their first loss of the season in a 38-31 setback at Hampden- Sydney.

Colaw, a senior defensive back, has recorded one solo tackle in two games of action thus far.

Bridgewater, 4-1 overall and 0-1 in the ODAC, returns to action on Oct. 13 at home against Guilford.
