¦ Calvary Baptist Church will hold a community yard and bake sale on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the top of the straight Spur, Route 39 and TC Walker Road. The event is a fundraiser for the Community Fitness Center located at the church to add more exercise equipment and begin hosting health clinics and nutrition workshops. ¦ Appalachian heritage will be celebrated at Douthat State Park this Saturday, Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The event will include events and programs for the whole family. They'll be able to learn the craft of making apple butter, play frontier games, cook on a campfire, share hay rides, and there will also be demonstrations of traditional crafts, bluegrass music and clogging, and food complete with a pig roast. ¦ A debate with the candidates running for Bath County Sheriff will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, at Millboro Elementary School - time to be confirmed. The local Ruritan Club is organizing this event.
