A candidates' forum is being held tonight, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m., at Millboro Elementary School. All candidates for the upcoming election have been invited to participate. The event was organized by the Bath County Republican and Democratic Committees.
The Millboro Area Rescue Squad will hold a benefit food and bake sale on Saturday, Oct. 20, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Bungalow in the industrial park. Funds raised will support the operation of the rescue squad.
Calvary Baptist Church will hold a community yard and bake sale on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the top of the straight Spur, Route 39 and TC Walker Road. The event is a fundraiser for the Community Fitness Center located at the church to add more exercise equipment and begin hosting health clinics and nutrition workshops. Calvary Baptist Church will host a revival from Sunday, Oct. 28, to Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. each evening, with different local churches presenting music. The church is located on Crooked Spur off the Routes 39-42 intersection in Millboro Springs.
All candidates running for Bath County sheriff have been invited to a debate on Monday, Oct. 29, from 7-8:30 p.m., at Millboro Elementary School. They will receive prepared questions in advance. The local Ruritan Club is organizing this event for residents to learn more about the candidates and how they would operate the sheriff's office if elected.
An Autumn Festival and award presentation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 5:30- 8:30 p.m. - Halloween night - at Calvary Baptist Church in Millboro Springs. Activities for children will include free horse rides, games and face painting, and members of the Millboro Volunteer Fire Association will give out candy. A prize will be awarded for the best fireman or woman costume, and the fire association will be presented with an award of honor in appreciation for all they do for the community. Free hot dogs and beverages will be provided. The evening will conclude with a short message from evangelist Tre Faulkner. According to Pastor John Green, people can come in costumes or not; it's a night for family fun. The church is located on Crooked Spur just off the intersection of Routes 39 and 42.
