Jubilee set for Nov. 3
WARM SPRINGS - Featuring local and regional performers, the fifth annual Old Fashioned Gospel Jubilee will be the source of many joyful noises. This year's jubilee is Saturday, Nov. 3 from 6-9 p.m. in the auditorium of Bath County High School, on U.S. 220, four miles north of Hot Springs. The doors open at 5:15 p.m. and there will be a raffle for a gospel CD basket.
This year's emcee is Pastor Billy Gwinn of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. Gwinn and his family lived in Bath County for six years before moving to southwest Virginia. He's married to Bath County native, Amanda Ray Gwinn and they have three sons. Gwinn is a Charger football fan and he helped coach the team while living in Bath County. He's a close friend of Richard and Karen Hise and daughter Jenna and calls on them often to sing at his church.
The evening's music will range from southern to contemporary gospel and will feature both traditional and original tunes. There are two acts new to the jubilee this year. One is the Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church choir from Eagle Rock. Also performing for the first time are The Faith Harmony Boys from the Charleston, W.Va. area.
Vertical Praise from North Garden will make their second jubilee appearance.
Local favorites performing include The Edenaires of Eden United Methodist Church, The Burns Family, Bootsie Hodge and Richard and Karen Hise and their daughter Jenna.
This event benefits Allegheny Mountain Radio. For more information call (540) 839-5400.
