Sunshine, apples, smiles: perfect recipe

Richard Jones took several turns stirring an applebutter kettle at the festival in Hot Springs last weekend. The event also included pony rides for the kids, crafts and antiques to buy, a benefit yard sale, and lots of musical entertainment.
Apple cheeks and a candy apple suited Kendal Woodzell, who enjoyed musical performances Saturday afternoon at the Eden Church's annual Applebutter Festival. The aroma of fresh, sweet apples permeated the air, and the grounds were alive with folks renewing acquaintances, snacking on funnel cakes and fried fruit pies, sharing fun, frivolity and fellowship.
Left: Tyler Ryder furiously ground the cider apples, while Kylie Woodzell wielded the ladle. Above: Sabrina Young and Michael Sharp carefully strained the sweet, brown liquid, and then poured it into cider containers. (Recorder photos by Margo Oxendine)
