¦ Residents who want to explore a new way to get some aerobic exercise can check out the contra dance in Staunton on Friday, Oct. 26, at Mary Baldwin College in the dance studio at the Physical Activities Center. Musicians will play from 8-11 p.m. for the dances that feature lively jigs and reels, polkas, and a waltz now and then. A beginner's workshop will be held at 7:30 p.m. For more details, call (540) 887-7162.
¦ Douthat State Park will host a day of Halloween activities and crafts for children on Saturday, Oct. 27. The park is located on State Road 629. For time and more specific information, call (540) 862-8100, or e-mail Douthat@dcr.virginia.gov.
¦ Calvary Baptist Church will host a revival from Sunday, Oct. 28, to Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. each evening. The church is located on Crooked Spur off the Routes 39-42 intersection in Millboro Springs.
¦ A debate for candidates running for Bath County sheriff will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, from 7-8:30 p.m., at Millboro Elementary School. Candidates will receive prepared questions in advance. The local Ruritan Club is organizing this event.
¦ An Autumn Festival is ahead on Halloween, Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., at Calvary Baptist Church in Millboro Springs. Children can enjoy free horse rides, games and face painting. The Millboro Volunteer Fire Association will give out candy, and free hot dogs and beverages will be provided. The evening will also include a prize for the best fireman or woman costume, and award to the fire association for its ongoing community efforts. The evening will conclude with a short message from evangelist Tre Faulkner. The church is located on Crooked Spur just off the intersection of Routes 39 and 42.
