 | | A beaver is busy at work chewing down trees along part of Cabin Creek in Millboro and has a good start on establishing a dam. The critter is now going after bigger trees, as can been seen in the gnawing effort on the other side of the creek. From a human viewpoint, it's a poor site to bottleneck the stream, which has flooded adjacent properties here on Lower Yard Road. (Recorder photo by Gina Hamilton) |
| ¦ An ornament-making contest continues, organized by Douthat State Park. Staff at the park invite area students, 4-H club members, church groups and scouts to make holiday ornaments from natural or recycled materials. The contest will continue to Friday, Nov. 30. Call the park for more details at (540) 862-8100 or e-mail Douthat@dcr.virginia.gov.
¦ Once again it's time to give thanks for the blessings we have in our lives, from friends and family to renewed health and opportunities for work, play and service. May the Thanksgiving holiday bring harmony and peace to one and all.
