¦ Last week's Recorder misrepresented Highland County electoral board member Maxine Huffman's position with regard to the list of write-in candidates for the recent general elections. Huffman did not "refuse" to provide anyone with the list. Instead, she felt the list was long and cumbersome, with quite a number of single votes for individuals, and included several facetious names. Huffman said her office is not required to provide the names of such candidates for certification at the state level when those write-in listings for any office constitute less than 5 percent of the vote. The list is available to anyone who wishes to review the write-ins.
¦ Jeff H. Farmer said he did not register as a write-in candidate for the Cedar Creek district school board seat as reported last week. Farmer did request information from the registrar about being a write-in candidate but did not register or campaign.
¦ In the July 19, 2007 edition of The Recorder, it was reported Monterey High School had its first "all graduating classes" reunion that July. But according to Hazel Corbett, the first of such reunions was heald on Aug. 6, 1994, for the classes from 1920 to 1963.
¦ In "Letters to the Editor" last week Jay and Cappie Hull's last name was spelled incorrectly.
