Ruffed Grouse Society holds banquet
FISHERSVILLE - The H.C. Edwards chapter of The Ruffed Grouse Society held its 18th annual sportsmen's banquet recently at Expoland near Fishersville. A total of 260 people attended. Of spe- cial note, there were 71 people who contributed $250 or more to support the chapter by becoming conservation and habitat sponsors.
The ladies' grand door prize, a sterling silver cuff bracelet accented by inlaid onyx and opal stones, was won by Maureen Fishback. The general grand door prize, a Charles Daly superior hunter semi-auto 20 gauge shotgun, was won by David Cline.
An additional seven shotguns were won by the sponsor members in the special sponsor gun drawing.
Other items went to winners in the write-in auction, live auction and the drummer and sportsman's raffles. The total banquet revenue was $49,459 with preliminary net proceeds of $26,361.
This money will help support the Ruffed Grouse Society in its efforts to create and protect habitat for ruffed grouse, woodcock and other upland wildlife species.
