MONTEREY - The Highland FFA is sponsoring the first annual game and wildlife show Dec. 7-8. This event is an opportunity for residents of surrounding counties to bring wildlife game for the area to see.

Animal registration will start at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 7 and end at 7 p.m. that evening. Registration is open to any legal game bear, deer, squirrel, turkey, coyote, fish, snake or other game.

The categories include deer, deer antler, board mount, bear, predators, small game, hides, and misc. There will be a fee per deer or bear head, and body mounts, plus all other mounts.

All proceeds will go toward awards and Relay for Life.

On Saturday the doors will be open to the public to see the game and wildlife from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Events will include a coyote trapping demonstration and a turkey calling contest and demonstration. Additionally, there will be a bow shooting competition on Saturday afternoon.

Refreshments including hot dogs, milk shakes, soft drinks, and other foods will be provided.

The chapter has invited different businesses from the area to set up booths. Businesses interested in coming to the show should contact chapter president Sean Duff, treasurer B.J. Lightner, James Colaw, or advisor Steve Heavner. For more information, call Highland High School, (540) 468-2129.
