McCaig to speak at Bath library
WARM SPRINGS - Local author Donald McCaig will be at the Bath County Public Library on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m. to speak about his latest novel, "Rhett Butler's People."
The novel is based on Margaret Mitchell's "Gone with the Wind," and was written in full cooperation with her estate.
McCaig, who resides in the Williamsville area, is the author of several critically acclaimed books, including "Nop's Trials," "An American Homeplace," "Eminent Dogs- Dangerous Men," "The Man Who Made the Devil Glad," and "Canaan: A Novel of the Reunited States After the War."
McCaig's "Jacob's Ladder" was designated the best Civil War novel ever written by The Virginia Quarterly, and won the Michael Shaara Award for Civil War Fiction and the Library of Virginia Award for Fiction.
McCaig will read from his book and have copies available for purchase and autographing. Proceeds from the sale of the book that evening will be donated to the Bath Animal Welfare Foundation, and its members will be on hand to assist and offer refreshments following the program.
The library staff hopes the community will come to meet the author, and bring their Christmas lists.
