 | | Congratulations go to Sam Burke of Millboro on his recent retirement from operating the Millboro Springs Garage for 17 years. His last day was Oct. 31. The garage is located on Route 42, now known as Cowpasture River Highway. Sam had many friends, family, and members of the community whom he served. He was always friendly and tried hard to help everyone in need, even when he was busy. A surprise celebration of his retirement was held at the Millboro Volunteer Fire Association, where he is also a member and a special friend. More than 80 guests, including friends and family members, came to the event from all different areas. There was lots of food, as many brought covered dishes and heartfelt gifts. A beautiful cake was presented, as well as miniature, eatable mint tools in an eatable toolbox. Friends Dale and Vicky Thompson of Millboro supplied a variety of great music for the celebration. The look on Sam's face as he entered the firehouse with all these people waiting was priceless. Everyone wished Sam a relaxing retirement, but his service will be missed.
