Youth leadership forum set
MONTEREY - The Bath and Highland Disability Services Board announces the 2008 Virginia Youth Leadership Forum. The forum will be held Jul. 14- 18, 2008, at Christopher Newport University, Newport News.
The YLF is a leadership development opportunity for those students with physical and sensory disabilities. The mission of the five-day forum is to empower students with disabilities with leadership skills, through large and small group activities focusing on leadership and teambuilding. Delegates are encouraged to develop a personal leadership plan that includes career and life goals.
Twenty-five students will be selected as delegates to represent the Commonwealth of Virginia at next summer's forum. The selection process is competitive and students must meet certain eligibility requirements, which are:

¦ Have a disability, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
¦ Have demonstrated leadership potential in their school and community.
¦ Reside in Virginia.
Any student who meets the above criteria is eligible to apply whether they attend public, private or state schools, or through home schooling. There is no cost to attend the 2008 forum.
