Hunting fatality update
BY JAMES JACENICH • STAFF WRITER

LAKE MOOMAW - The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries online Outdoor Report for Nov. 28 reports the death of a Bath County hunter, previously reported in The Recorder Nov. 15.

The Outdoor Report article says the 36-year-old man was "allegedly mistaken for a game animal." The report says conservation officer Michael Entsminger was the primary in- vestigator of the fatality. He was assisted by hunter education specialist Kris Dougherty and Sgt. Steve Bullman.

According to the DGIF article, the shooter remained at the scene.

Officials had previously said no other hunters were in the area.

The DGIF reminds hunters they should treat every firearm as if it were loaded and to control the direction of the muzzle, only pointing at what you intend to shoot.
