Alleghany Regional Hospital gets gold achievement award

LOW MOOR - On Dec. 4, Alleghany Regional Hospital received the Virginia Health Quality Center Gold Achievement Award, presented at the VHQC Outcomes Congress in Richmond.

ARH received the award for excellence in quality improvement measures. The award recognizes ARH based on the hospital's excellence in meeting specific goals in quality care measures. It was presented by the Virginia Health Quality Center and Virginia's Quality Improvement Organization.

"We are delighted to recognize Alleghany Regional Hospital as a partner and congratulate them on their achievements," said Donald A. Glozer, president and CEO of VHQC. "It is important to note that the Gold award represents hospitals in Virginia that achieved their goals in the clinical areas of acute myocardial infarction, heart failure and pneumonia. These hospitals have also sustained their levels of care for an extended period of time," he said.

"Our patients and the physicians who refer them to our hospital for care can be reassured that we're providing a level of quality care that rivals the top hospitals in the nation. Many of our quality scores that are measured by the federal government rank in the top 10 percent nationally or higher than the average score reported by all hospitals in the United States."

ARH's success was measured according to indicators set by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
