New principal accents discipline, achievement
      MONTEREY — Kelly Wilmore, has a straightforward approach to discipline. "Be good or be gone," is his motto. The new Highland High School principal made it quite clear to students and their parents last week that misbehavior will not be tolerated. All Bath schools meet state requirements for progress
      WARM SPRINGS — A report released by the Virginia Department of Education indicates all Bath County schools — Bath County High School, Millboro Elementary School, and Valley Elementary School, as well as the division as a whole, have made Adequate Yearly Progress under the federal No Child Left Behind Act, based on 2007-08 data.

Community supper held in effort to save school
     Millboro residents and visitors gather to share a community supper in front of the old school last Thursday. The event was hosted by the Millboro Preservation and Cultural Association to celebrate its efforts toward acquiring the school property and renovating the buildings for future community use. The Bath County Board of Supervisors plans to seek bids for a second time and then make its decision on awarding the project. Needless to say, the association hopes to get the contract and implement its plans to revitalize the buildings and site for the benefit of all residents. (Recorder photo by Gina Hamilton)

Cloverbuds enjoy camp
      MONTEREY — Twenty-six youth, ages 5-8, recently participated in the Highland Cloverbud 4-H Summer Day Camp. The camp kept the children and their counselors busy with fun educational projects. As camp opened, shyness and unease quickly vanished as campers recognized friends from school and made new buddies on the playground.
