      Employment steady in Bath; Highland down Staunton — Preliminary data for the month of September put the rate of unemployment in Highland County at 13.7 percent, a 1.9 percent increase over the August figure of 11.8. Bath County's rate of unemployment remained the same, staying at 3.2 percent.

      Trimble House swept by flames yesterday at noon A small army of firemen and volunteer furniture movers converged on the home of Mrs. Minnie Trimble yesterday (Wednesday) to save many of the elderly lady's belongings from a fire which broke out suddenly in the rear of the two-story house.
