Bath man killed in wreck

MILLBORO - A 50-year-old Millboro man was killed Monday night in a single-vehicle accident on Route 42, near Nicelytown Road in Alleghany County.

According to Virginia State Police, Charles Arthur "Ikey" Simmons was traveling north on Route 42 near Route 636 at 10:20 p.m., when he ran off the right side of the road and over-corrected. Simmons's Ford Ranger pick-up then crossed the center line, went over a bank, and overturned.

He died Tuesday morning, Nov. 11, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. - Margo Oxendine
