Millboro Happenings
By Gina Hamilton

¦ Brrrr! Talk about turning into a human Popsicle; I hope we're all thawing out! The snow sure was beautiful to watch last weekend, though, from the comfort of a warm home for those who did not have to venture out in it.

¦ Millboro Elementary School is beginning an exciting book project and would like to invite the community to join in reading the book also, "The Trumpet of the Swan," by E.B. White. According to Principal Martha Reish, students not yet reading or not ready to tackle a chapter book will have the book read by their parent while others will share in the reading or read the book independently. Questions and activities will be included in the family packet and can be picked up at the school between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. She will send weekly questions to the newspaper for the Millboro Happenings column as a guide to reading the book.

¦ A Community Movie Weekend is planned this weekend at Camp Accovac. On Friday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m., the film "One Night with the King" will be featured. On Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m., the movie "Meet the Robinsons" will be shown, followed at 7 p.m. by "Facing the Giants." For more information, please call (540) 997-5964.

¦ Please send information for this column to hamiltonwriting@hotmail.com, and photos in jpeg format, by mail to P.O. Box 221, Millboro, VA 24460, or drop news items and photos off at the Millboro General Store on Main Street.
