FFA member spotlight: Jessie Siron
MONTEREY - Jessie Siron, 17, the daughter of Doug and Kristie Siron of Doe Hill, is a junior at Highland High School. Siron is the reporter of Highland's Future Farmers of America chapter and has been a member six years.
She shared the following about her FFA experience.
What makes the chapter
unique?
"Our chapter is a very unique chapter. It has many agriculturally based individuals and I think it has the most hands on, and outside oriented people in the state of Virginia."
What is your favorite FFA
activity? Why?
"My favorite FFA activity would definitely have to be parliamentary procedure, and livestock judging. Additionally, I enjoy going to farm shows and par- ticipating in all FFA events."
What have you learned
through your FFA
experience?
"Throughout my FFA experience, I have learned many things, including how to better manage my livestock, and how to be more helpful to the community."
What Career Development
Events do you participate
in?
I participate in many CDEs, however; my favorite CDEs would be livestock judging, and parliamentary procedure.
What is your Supervised
Agricultural Experience?
"My SAE is poultry placement, where I am working to better improve my family's turkey flocks and have been working on this SAE since eighth grade. Furthermore, I am working on the SAE to earn my state FFA degree."
What has been the highlight
of your FFA career?
"The highlight of my FFA career would definitely be becoming FFA reporter; it is a great honor to become an FFA officer."
What are your plans after
high school?
"After graduating high school in 2009, I plan to attend the Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of Radiology, in hopes of becoming a radiologist."
What is your motivational
quote?
"I do not have a motivational quote, but I do have a motivational scripture from the book of Matthew: 'With God, all things are possible.'"
