McBride name will be remembered in Highland
Editor, The Recorder,

It is extremely sad to see Highland County residents getting hosed at every turn by the Highland New Wind Development project. I suspect the name McBride will long be remembered in Highland County written and oral history with much disdain.

It is especially distasteful to see a historic county known for its spirit of coming to one another's aid whenever an emergency situation arises, taken down the primrose path by those motivated by personal gain with no thought to their neighbors. Even more disturbing is to realize how this situation came about in a democratic society.

Mr. (Jerry) Rexrode (supervisor) is quoted as saying, "Through openness we can have a good project. Based on the relationship I have with HNWD, it will be a good project." Interesting.

Where was the "openness" by Mr. Rexrode and his cohorts when this project first came to light? There was none. The public was basically locked out of the early decision process.

They were afraid of being sued? Be serious. One cannot help but wonder exactly what kind of "relationship" Mr. Rexrode had and continues to have with the McBrides and HNWD. And now clear cutting, stream pollution and important environmental permits (are) not being required. The hosing continues. How sad.
