Highland Economic Development Authority
¦ Tuesday, the Highland County Economic Development Authority appointed Frank Marks to the Shenandoah Valley Technology Council. ¦ The EDA agreed to spend up to $500 on a display and materials to set up an information booth at Highland High School during the Maple Festival. ¦ The EDA, in conjunction with Bath and Highland chambers of commerce, The Highland Center, and tentatively Bath County supervisors will hold an "Entrepreneur Express" workshop Saturday, March 29. It is designed under a statewide program to provide resources for local businesses. ¦ The EDA is reviewing Highland's demographic profile as outlined by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership. ¦ The meeting was attended by supervisor David Blanchard, and Highland chamber board member Kevin Wagner. Wagner and EDA members discussed potential business opportunities, particularly commodities and value-added products from industries like forestry and wood products.
