Annual Relay for Life under way
MONTEREY - The Highland County Relay for Life will be held on Saturday, May 31 at the Highland County Fairgrounds. The event will start at noon with a special ceremony honoring survivors and caretakers. A meal will be provided for survivors free, donated by the Mill Gap Ruritan Club, and will be available to the public for a free will donation, proceeds to benefit Relay for Life.
"We have had great success in the past with holding a Relay for Life, winning top honors at the state and national levels, and I am very appreciative of the citizens of this county for all of their hard work and dedication to this event and knowing that we are going to win the fight against cancer. I hope we make this year even better and to accomplish this goal, I need your help," says Mary Beth Gutshall, Relay for Life coordinator.
There will be a meeting at the Highland County Public Library on March 5 at 6 p.m. to start planning for Relay. Those already signed up should come to this meeting so ideas can be shared and organized. For information call Gutshall, (540) 468-2555.
