HHS principal search narrowed to one
MONTEREY - Highland County Public Schools superintendent Gary Blair said his search for a principal to replace retiring Highland High School Randy Hooke has narrowed to one choice. He wouldn't reveal who that was until he's had a chance to run it past the school board and get their approval. Blair can recommend, but he can't hire.
Hooke's replacement needs time to inform his or her employers before making the announcement public.
The new principal apparently has a coaching background in addition to a teaching background and is currently working as a teacher in Virginia.
Blair said a panel consisting of teachers and parents had a chance to interview the candidates and were satisfied with his choice.
The school board meets at 7 p.m. Monday, May 12 at which time they will have the chance to meet the candidate and make their decision.
